Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.
Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.
Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven’t spoken since.
Poppy has everything she should want, but she’s stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation together—lay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.
Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?

Rating: ★★
'People we meet on Vacation' was never in my tbr, not even a 1000km close to it- The main reason being I'm not a big fan of the best friends to lovers trope. It was a book I decided to read on a whim just because I found an e-book copy of it and saw that it's reviews were largely positive (sighs). And also coz Emily Henry also wrote Beach Read, duh, which is like one of my most surprising 'good' read of this year.
I really liked Beach Read & the way this book started, I was expecting to like it despite my aversions to it's main plot trope. And I tried to like it- at least I liked some parts of it but at some (decidedly early point) point I was starting to get impatient- how is this book still going on? I wanted to read to know if it got better but if I'm going to be honest, I was forcing myself to read it. That conflict that tore them apart? I've no words. Their whole trajectory was a mess🙂
Also, having only Poppy's POV for the story didn't help. Poppy bringing up Sarah everytime was annoying too, I was basically wtf-ing whenever she did that.
My Ranking so far(16/11/2022):-
Book Lovers > Beach Read > Happy Place > People We Meet on Vacation
